The club are delighted to announce they are teaming up with ACA Creative to publish a wonderful 300-page casebound book to mark the 125-year history of The Hawthorns.  

The Hawthorns. 551 feet above sea level, the highest ground above sea level among the 92. Why? Because, clearly, God wanted to be closer to his football team. Don’t ask daft questions.

For 125 years now, He has been looking down on his celestial Subbuteo set, upon the first newly built stadium of the 20th century, the first out of town football ground, and upon a string of wonderful footballers wearing blue and white stripes, players who have left their indelible mark on the hearts, minds and souls of generation after generation of Albion supporters.

From Joe Reader to Josh Griffiths, Stanley Matthews to Cristiano Ronaldo, Edward VIII to Red Rum, baseball sluggers to boxers, all human (and equine) life has been here, and we are across it all in a lavish new book, “The History Of The Hawthorns”.

Over its 300 pages, “The History Of The Hawthorns” tells the story of the stadium right from the reasons behind the move from Stoney Lane right through to the present day. The book is packed with exclusive interviews from players, administrators and supporters getting under the skin of this cathedral of football. With hundreds of rare photographs, this is the ultimate tribute to the Shrine, the place thousands of us call home.

Written by club historian Dave Bowler, the book chronologically covers the stadium’s history including many never published before images.
